The Tokyo’s Volcanic Island
Experience Oshima
Living with the Volcano
Why Izu Oshima?
Izu Oshima is a volcanic island where people have lived alongside eruptions for thousands of years.
Its landscapes, ports, forests, and culture have all been shaped by volcanic activity.
Formed by volcanic land and harsh winds, life on Izu Oshima has found its wisdom in the camellia.
From soil and shelter to everyday life, this resilient plant tells the story of living with the volcano.
Enjoy Selected Experiences
Izu Oshima is a compact 90 km² island, about an hour to drive around. Visitors can choose from volcanic landscapes, charming camellia gardens, and local cultural sites – select a few to explore during a day.
All experiences are within easy reach of Okata Port, and bus transfers make getting between sites smooth and comfortable.
Signature Experiences
Private, flexible experiences for cruise guests and small groups.
